A Day at Canterbury

Canterbury is a self-directed, open-classroom environment. The first hour of the day is an age-grouped classroom environment. The children work independently at learning activities while the teacher works one-on-one or in small groups. At this time, the unit of study is presented and developed.

After snack time, the school joins together for an open-classroom environment. The children mix and participate in activities such as art, drama, music, cognitive activities, carpentry, hands-on science, and fine and gross motor activities.

 8:50 am to 9:00 am - Children Arrive

 9:00 am to 9:50 am - Activity Centers

 9:50 am to 10:15 am - Group Time

 10:15 am to 10:30 am - Snack Time

 10:30 am to 11:30 am - Open Time

 11:30 am to 11:45 am - Story Time

 11:45 am to 12:00 pm - Carpool
